Born in the city of Canberra. An all-around sportsman, he excelled not only in athletics, but also in rugby, cricket, surfing and bowling. Participated at the Deaf World Games four times – in 1985 (no medals won), 1989 (2 gold medals in the decathlon and the long jump), 1993 (1 gold medal in the long jump, 2 silvers in the 100m dash and 110m hurdles and 1 bronze in the 200m), 2005 (2 silvers in the shot put and javelin throw). World record holder in the decathlon. Country's representative in the decathlon at the 1990 and 1994 Commonwealth Games. Attended the 75th CISS Anniversary Gala held at Davos, Switzerland, in 1999. 2000 Sydney Olympic Torchbearer Relay runner.
1996 Sportsman of the Year Finalist.
