17th Winter Deaflympics Team Drawing

Vysoké Tatry, SVK - On 24 January, there was drawing event for both Curling and Ice Hockey teams at the Grand Hotel Kempinski in Vysoké Tatry, Slovakia for next year's competition at the 17th Winter Deaflympics.

International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) received final team entries which were due on 15 January 2010. As a result, there will be six (6) women's curling teams, eight (8) men's curling teams, and six (6) men's ice hockey teams.

ICSD Technical Director of Ice Hockey, Chris BRADLEY, conducted the draw. The competition plan will consist of one group round robin format where each team will play each other only once. If schedule permits, the top four (4) teams will advance for medal rounds. More information will be shared at a later date.

ICSD and 2011 Vysoké Tatry Organizing Committee have approved the fair draw for both sports. In a few weeks, the 17th Winter Deaflympics will begin their twelve (12) months journey to the Opening of the Games.
