2005 WIDEX Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year

Frederick MD, USA - Scott PROSSER of Australia and Ce SHI of China have been selected as the 2005 WIDEX Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year by the member of International Committee of Sports for the Deaf Selections Commission through electronic ballot, by earning 96 and 83 points respectively.

Scott PROSSER, a swim team captain for the Australian team at the Melbourne Deaflympics won gold medal in 100m Butterfly and holds the current World Deaf Record, won three (3) silver medals in 200m Butterfly (swam under World Deaf Record time), 400m Freestyle, and 1,500 Freestyle. During the year of 2005 he also participated in elite level competitions such as Victorian State Swimming Championships, Victorian State Surf Lifesaving Championships, Australian Open Swimming Championships, Victorian State Short Course Swimming Championships and Australian Open Short Course Swimming Championships, he received bronze medal in relay team event against Olympic level swimmers.  He also holds Victorian Institute of Sports Scholarship for year 2004-2005.

Ce SHI, her accomplishments for this year include gold medals in single, double and mixed event and a silver medal in team event of table tennis at the Melbourne Deaflympics. Ce also brought home gold medal in single, double, mixed and team at the National Table Tennis Games in July of 2005.
