Therapeutic Exemption Use (TUE) Commission members

Job Description:
The Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) Commission members are responsible for evaluating and granting TUEs to athletes who need to use prohibited substances or methods for legitimate medical reasons. The commission will comprise three members: one chair and two additional members.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Chair:
    • Where necessary, coopting a chair and specialists relevant to the medical condition covered by a TUE application
    • Checking a specific TUE application and identifying appropriately qualified and knowledgeable
    • Individuals who could fairly review that application Selecting an appropriate individual to lead on the specific application
    • Briefing the coopted individuals on the specific application and their role and responsibilities in relation to it
  • Members:
    • Checking the TUE application to determine if further information is needed
    • Evaluating the TUE application to decide if it complies with the relevant ISTUE
    • Providing reasoned and written decisions within applicable timelines

Other Important Information:
The TUE committee member function is primarily medical one, but it is also helpful if candidates have some background in anti-doping. Candidates should typically hold:

  • Chair and all committee members - Medical Degree
  • Experience in leading and participating in medical committees is an advantage.

Interested candidates must submit the following documents in English to office@ciss.org by the deadline of 28 June 2024:

  • Letter of support from at least one (1) Full or Associate Member.
  • Summary of the applicant's history, qualification and medical and/or anti-doping experience if necesssary
  • Supporting materials such as resumes, certificates, and references.

Note: For security reasons, do not send the passport to us; however, a proof of passport must be presented during the interview. The ICSD Secretariat will administer all applications, and the Anti-doping Commission will review, interview, and make recommendations to the Executive Board for consideration and approval.
